Robert Update
Posted by LPate on November 20th, 2007 filed in RobertSpoke with Robert a few times this week. The report from the Dr. on his knee is that he has a torn right tendon. Dr. gave him some stretching exercises and told him not to run as hard. With that said, Robert took an IB profane and ran the mile on a resistance track the next day in 6:52.
He starts his day at 4:30 with PT (physical training) till ‘chow’, which is at 6:30. Classes begin at 8:30 and go till about 5 or 6 pm. He has studied CPR, patient transport, patient rights this week. He has an 88% average so far. The next unit is over patient assessment. They go through material very quickly and to Roberts frustration do not get much study time, he is making the best of it with less sleep.
He has another PT test tomorrow morning at 3:30 AM, involves a 2 mile run, as many sit ups and pushups as he can do in a minute for each. I’ll let you all know how he does in the next update.
Robert informed us 2 weeks ago that they are not given leave for Thanksgiving. I am grateful that we are only 2 ½ hrs. away so we can drive to him and spend Thanksgiving together. Being Thanksgiving not much is open for dinner in San Antonio, I was fortunate to find that the Golden Corral Restaurant will be serving till 4 pm. We will bring dessert from home to have back at the barracks picnic area. Those soldiers that do not have family close, will be serving dinners at a homeless shelter. The Army is very strict and would not let us take any others with us to dinner without over a months’ notice.
Robert does get 2 weeks at Christmas and is very much looking forward to the break.
Our love and prayers are with all of you and your families this Thanksgiving,
Bob, Loretta, Maria, Robert and Steven
